Marie-Andrée Lessard and Sarah Maxwell - January 2008

In preparation of the Olympic trials for the China games the Canadian National beach volleyball team of Marie-Andrée Lessard and Sarah Maxwell consulted the team at Quanta Performance for training and rehabilitation. The pair were a pleasure to work with and are great representatives of Canadian athletics.

Anthony Calvillo

A year ago, there were bigger things on Anthony Calvillo's mind than playing football. The veteran quarterback left the Montreal Alouettes near the end of the regular season after his wife Alexia Kontolemos was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins B-cell lymphoma just days after giving birth to their second child.

With his wife's cancer being driven toward remission, Calvillo stormed back with one of the best seasons of his 15-year career and steered the Alouettes to the Grey Cup game for the sixth time in nine years.
AC has trusted Scott Suter at Quanta for all his health and rehabilitation needs and enjoyed a season without any major injury and a rejuvinated arm.

The season ended with Calvillo being named the CFL's 2008 outstanding player after having completed a league-high of 472 passes for 5,633 yards and a league-best of 43 touchdowns.
Congratulations Anthony for overcoming a very tumultuous year and all the best to you and your family.

Quanta Charity Golf Tournament – August 1, 2008

With the sun shining, the Quanta and All Financial Golf Tournament got off to a great start this past August 1st and we are proud to say it only got better. By the end of the night, a total of

16 601.00$ was raised for the West Island Palliative Care Residence.

A huge thank-you goes out to everyone involved ; golfers, sponsors, friends and family, for a job VERY well done! Together we really can make a difference.

Welcoming of New Staff – September 1, 2008

Amy Kingsland

The newest member of the Quanta team, Amy, brings fresh energy to the clinic with her upbeat attitude and a professional approach to her work. Having worked at Future, she has extensive administrative and customer support experience, and her previous work as a child caregiver has taught her the art of patience.

Amy's strong work ethic comes from her genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of others, and she has always known that she wanted to work in a "caring" profession.

In her free time, Amy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and in particular, spoiling her little godson.

David Loiseau

Congratulations to David on his 5th round TKO of Solomon Hutcherson in his hometown of Montreal for the middleweight championship of XMMA (mixed martial arts) on September 13th,

Nathalie Groves

They don’t call it the “ironman” for nothing…

With a diagnosis of sesamoiditis of the right foot approximately 2 weeks prior to the Hawaiian Ironman event, Nathalie Groves fought through the pain (walked the run portion) but completed all portions of the race on October 11th.

Congratulations Nathalie, on a job well done!

Hermann Ngoudjo

And the winner is…Hermann Ngoudjo!

For the 3rd edition of the Grand Prix Boxing Gala, on June 6th, Hermann “The Panther” Ngoudjo (16-2 9KO) once again took center stage, beating former champion Souleymane "The Sensation" M’baye (36-2-1, 21KO) in the final IBF Title Elimination match-up.

Hermann consults Quanta for their work in improving his physical performance before every fight.

The whole Quanta team will be cheering him on as he now goes on to fight for the IBF World Title January 30th, 2009.

Als Make Grey Cup! – Nov 23, 2008

After 10 years as the head trainer and medical coordinator with Montreal Alouettes, Scott Suter decided to move on. But to this day star players such as CFL MVP Anthony Calvillo, CFL Offensive Lineman of the year Scott Flory, Ben Cahoon, Luke Fritz, Mathieu Proulx and more still come to Scott for their rehabilitation needs. The Als enjoyed a phenomenal season and made it all the way to the Grey Cup but came up a little short.

Otis Grant – November 24th

Otis Grant makes history!

In a ceremony held at the Casino de Montreal, our good friend and Jamaican former world middleweight boxing champion Otis Grant made Canadian history. A mere 2 years after leaving the ring, he was inducted into the Quebec Sports Hall of Fame, making him the first athlete to receive this honor less than five years after retiring.
Grant - a former World Boxing Organisation (WBO) middleweight world champion - has also held the World Boxing Council (WBC) intercontinental super middleweight, WBC international super middleweight, Canadian middleweight, Canadian super middleweight and North American Boxing Federation middleweight titles.

Quanta Donate-A-Day Charity
This December 22nd, 2008 was once again designated as Quanta’s “Donate-A-Day to Charity” event, with all earnings from Quanta to be donated to a local charity. Last year’s recipient was the “Otis Grant and Friends Foundation”

Sandro Grande – August 6th, 2008

Return to play

A 5'8 midfielder, Grande became the first Quebec-born footballer to sign with a Series A club, signing a three-year deal with Brescia Calcio in 2001. In July 2005, he moved to Viking FK, and in March 2006 to Molde FK of the Norwegian Premier League.
However, after undergoing surgery on both his knees in the fall of 2007, Sandro was sidelined from the sport he loves so much.
Thankfully, with dedication, hard work and consultation with Quanta specialists, Sandro resumed his professional soccer career by signing with the Montreal Impact on August 6th, 2008.

Zofia Tujaka

When in Montreal, Zofia still finds the time to stop by for treatment at Quanta. However, 2008 saw Zofia spending most of her time touring the world with La La La Human Steps in the production of Amjad.

Amjad has been receiving international acclaim for its audacious fusion of classical ballet and modern dance, which reinterprets some of the most important ballets of the Romantic repertoire; including Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty.

On a personal note, we would like to once again congratulate Zofia on her recent wedding, and by far the most original wedding location!

All the best for 2009!

Courses

Quanta continued to offer the MAT Jumpstart series in 2008 and also introduced its Anatomy, Biomechanics, and Muscle Function series of lower extremity, upper extremity, and trunk and spine.

Dev Chatterjee was a featured lecturer at the Muscle-Up Symposium on April 6th, 2008

Joachim Alcine July 11th, 2008

Joachim Alcine is a Canadian professional boxer of Haitian origin fighting out of Montreal, Québec, at the Grant Brothers Boxing Gym.
On July 7th, 2007, Joachim became World Champion in the WBA Light Middleweight division after defeating Travis Simms by unanimous decision. On December 7, 2007, he successfully defended his title by TKO in the 12th round against Panamanian Alfonso Mosquera at the Bell Centre July 11th, 2008 – WBA Light Middleweight title defense against Daniel Santos at the outdoor venue of Jarry Park. Lost by KO.

Joachim has been consulting the Team at Quanta for rehabilitation, and sports nutrition advice. Big things are expected from him in 2009 and the Quanta team will be there for support to his road back to the world title!

Jean Pascal Dec 6th, 2008

Jean arrived at Quanta with a reoccuring shoulder injury that had him postponing his world title fight and contemplating surgery. Dr. Francis Fontaine referred Jean to the Quanta team for specialized rehabilitation and specific training techniques that were developped by our own professionals. (Energy Integration Technique - E.I.T.)
Jean’s shoulder rehabilitation proved a success and was echoed in the words of his coach Marc Ramsay who described him has never having thrown a punch so well with his right arm. This enabled Jean to subsequently start his 8 week training camp in Tempe, Arizona. There, he trained at the reknowned Athletes Performance Center in preparation for his world title.

Dev Chatterjee was flown on two occasions to Arizona during the last period of Jean’s training camp to consult with the boxer and work closely with the members of his team including head trainer Luke Richesson. Unfortunately right before Dev’s arrival Jean sustained a major injury in the ring and it was feared that the fight would have to be cancelled. After intensive treatment, nutritional change and exercise advice from Dev, Jean was able to heal quickly and continue his training for his December 6th fight in Nottingham, England.

On November 27th, Jean Pascal, Unbeaten 21-0, Canadian Super Middleweight Champion, set off for Nottingham, England for his fight with Carl “the Cobra” Froch on December 6th, 2008. Dev was brought in again to make sure Jean’s body was in optimal condition to fight for the WBC Super Middleweight world title.

Jean fought a valiant battle but could not secure the title as he lost by judges decision in a 12 round war that saw neither boxer back down. His fight against Froch has been called by many experts as the top 3 fights in all of boxing for 2008!
